Upcoming Public Meeting and Draft Plan
New Kent residents have helped to shape the update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan through two phases of public input surveys and meetings. A third phase of public engagement later this summer will present a draft plan for the public’s feedback. The plan Steering Committee has worked hard to produce a sound plan based on community input, including an updated Future Land Use Map, transportation improvements, and implementation tactics. What is New Kent 2045?
New Kent County is currently working with residents, businesses, landowners, and other community members to update its Comprehensive Plan. This effort is an extension of the County's Envision New Kent Strategic Plan, adopted in 2021.
The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range guide for growth and development, establishing a vision of what New Kent County could look like in twenty years. The plan addresses a variety of topics, including land use, housing, economic development, and natural resources. It identifies objectives and strategies that can be implemented to realize the community’s vision.
